Ernestine Grigsby Pansy Enamel Brooch

This enamel brooch originally belonged to Ernestine Block Grigsby, University of Colorado Boulder.

Details

Tri Delta Founder Sarah Ida Shaw Martin, Boston University, began the tradition of special pieces of jewelry being passed to Fraternity officers for the duration of their term. The earliest pieces were her personal belongings, but over the years items belonging to other early leaders were added to the collection. It became a tradition for the Fraternity's leaders to pass the pieces to their incoming counterparts at the end of their induction ceremony. This brooch was formerly worn by the Fraternity Alumnae Vice President and was first given to Ernestine Block Grigsby, University of Colorado Boulder, following the Delta Mu Chapter Installation. The brooch is now passed to a member of the Executive Board.

This enamel brooch in the form of a pansy is set with a central diamond and rimmed with small pearls.
