Helen Tichenor Gold Filigree Coat of Arms Pin

Designed by Sarah Ida Shaw Martin, Boston University, this coat of arms pin originally belonged to Helen Tichenor, Butler University.

Details

Tri Delta Founder Sarah Ida Shaw Martin, Boston University, began the tradition of special pieces of jewelry being passed to Fraternity officers for the duration of their term. The earliest pieces were her personal belongings, but over the years items belonging to other early leaders were added to the collection. It became a tradition for the Fraternity's leaders to pass the pieces to their incoming counterparts at the end of their induction ceremony. Helen Tichenor, Butler, left the pin to Frances Longshore, Butler, who donated the pin to the archive. Beginning in August 1993 with Gwenn Smith Wynn, Auburn University, the pin has been loaned to Collegiate Vice Presidents to wear during their terms.

This pin features an ornate gold filigree design surrounding the Tri Delta coat of arms.
