Details

1934

Tri Delta Founder Sarah Ida Shaw Martin, Boston University, began the tradition of special pieces of jewelry being passed to Fraternity officers for the duration of their term. The earliest pieces were her personal belongings, but over the years items belonging to other early leaders were added to the collection. It became a tradition for the Fraternity's leaders to pass the pieces to their incoming counterparts at the end of their induction ceremony. This watch was given to Bessie Leach Priddy, Adrian, at the 1934 Convention. In 1964, it was given to her daughter, Frances Priddy McDonald, University of Missouri, beginning a tradition of passing the watch to the immediate past president. In 1970, the Fraternity purchased the diamond wristband to replace the worn black ribbon on which the watch was originally housed.

This silver watch features a diamond wristband and is engraved on the back with the name Bessie Leach Priddy, Adrian College.
