Eleanor Dorcas Pond

Eleanor Dorcas Pond, the second primary founder of Tri Delta, was valedictorian of her Medway High class and won a scholarship to Boston University. She began attending school in 1885, commuting by train from West Medway for the first year and boarding in Somerville during the rest of her years as a student.

When Sarah Ida Shaw approached Eleanor about founding a new women's fraternity, she eagerly agreed to be part of the effort. It was Eleanor who suggested a triple Greek letter name for the organization.
