Helen Gough Martin attended Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky, where she was a member of Beta Zeta Chapter. A former Alabama state reference chair, Martin chaired Tri Delta's first Leadership School in 1955 and later became Convention chair.
From 1956 to 1958, Martin served as associate director of chapter financial management, and from 1958 to 1962, she was finance director. Martin began her single term as president of Tri Delta in 1962, during which she presided over Tri Delta’s Diamond Anniversary Convention in 1964.
Martin had three daughters who became members of Tri Delta. She passed away on May 13, 1988 in Montgomery, Alabama.
