Mary Kay Paup Baker, University of California, Los Angeles, was born in Hollywood on May 14, 1923. In 1943, she graduated from the University of California Los Angeles, where she was a member of Theta Pi Chapter. She then enlisted in the United States Naval Women’s Reserve (WAVES) and was stationed in San Francisco as a communications officer. In 1943, she left the Navy and married Lieutenant Robert Baker.

Mary Paup Baker served as president of Tri Delta from 1972 to 1976. Before that, she was collegiate vice president from 1966 to 1972 and associate director of the collegiate program from 1966 to 1968. In 1978, the Sacramento Alumnae Chapter established the Mary Kay Baker Fund in her honor to support the children’s oncology work of the UC Davis Medical Center. Baker served as chair for Tri Delta’s Centennial Convention in 1988.

In addition to her work with Tri Delta, Baker was deeply involved with Girl Scout groups in California and was a member of the Crocker Art Museum Service Group. She passed away on April 5, 2004.
